    Notes:
  • This Kawasaki is very special. It was built by Reg Pridmore for Yvon Duhamel multi time Canadian National Champion Yvon Dehamel was a French Canadian professional motorcycle racer. The only six-time winner of the “White Trophy”. The highest award in Canada for motorcycle racing. He was one of the most accomplished motorcycle racers in Canadian motorsports history. Duhamel was a versatile rider competing in numerous motorcycle racing disciplines including; trials, motocross, ice racing, drag racing, flat track racing and then most prominently in road racing. Where he was hired and became a member of the Factory Kawasaki racing team from Japan. That supplied his motorcycles to him personally. In 2007 he was inducted into the Canadian Motorcycle Hall of Fame. Duhamel's son, Miguel Duhamel, became a successful motorcycle racer himself and moved to the U.S. With Miguel Duhamel winning the AMA Superbike championship in 1995 and becoming the all-time leading AMA Superbike race winner in 1998. At the end of the racing season, since he won the Canadian Championship, Kawasaki let him keep the bike. With new, next year’s race bikes coming. Duhamel had his mechanic completely take the bike apart and put it back in what let’s call “Street Legal” condition. He was famous and possibly the rules for what a street bike had to be back then, were shall we say, somewhat lax? (As they are here in Arizona!) His mechanic asked Kawasaki for a complete and new 1974 Z1 900 wireing harness, and all the required street legal items such as the head light and turn signals, rear view mirrors, brake light activators, mirrors, etc. What he received was a center cases up, motor that had been bored to be a 1087cc motor by Kawasaki just like Dehamel had been racing. Wiseco Motorsports here in the U.S. copied what Kawasaki had done, and sells all the replacement parts if ever needed. Besides Kawasaki sending him a completely new top end from the center case up. They also supplied them with the 1087 bore, and the over sized valves and race carbonators. They also included every bearing and seal to make it as brand new. I’m sure his mechanic enjoyed taking the bike completely apart, and replacing every bearing and seal and the transmission back to a normal shift pattern. Race bikes are up for first gear, down for the other 4. Unlike the street bikes we can buy that are down for first. The frame was made to look like a stock Kawasaki that the public could buy, but was 4130 chromoly steel and had extensive bracing for the considerably more powerful engine in this bike. Also, the regular crankshaft is press fit, but they welded and balanced the crank shaft on this bike due to the additional power. The seller purchased this bike from the guy that bought it from Yvon’s mechanic. He provided the seller with full notes on everything that he did with and to this bike and the receipts after he purchased it. He used a shop in Canada called “Leitner & Bush Engineering”, which is the equivalent of Vance & Hines, here in the U.S. The seller used a calculator to add up just the work orders he gave me, and even after all the work Yvon’s mechanic had preformed, he spent over $17,725.08 on this bike, this does not include the purchase price he paid for the bike. And this is in 1975 dollars. One of the most unusual things he found that he did was change out all the switch gear to Honda RC30, (considered one of the top 10 motorcycles ever made). This is the levers, brakes, gages and it even has a hydraulic clutch! No street motorcycle in 1974 had a hydraulic clutch. It has a Pro Fab aluminum swing arm from California, Morris wheels, Corbin seat. The new from factory gas tank, side panels and tail piece put back on. Since these were never used on it as a race bike. There is more but it’s in the folder that comes with the bike. The bike comes with all the above and the seller has started the paper work to register this bike in the United States. The remaining cost will be $45 dollars.
  • Condition:
  • All of the bikes for offer have been owned and stored in the owner’s home living room since before 2004. They have been kept in an air-conditioned space since each was purchased. The home is here in Arizona. All of them have been on display in the exact place they were placed in 2004. They all started and ran at the time of their purchase. drained the float bowls of all the bikes, drained the gas tanks and removed the batteries from the 1960’s Honda’s since they would have leaked acid over time. The first day of every month the tires were aired up to spec to ensure no tire damage from low air pressure since many of them had brand new tires installed. At this same time they were all wiped down with modern “detailer” to preserve the paint, seat covers and all other parts of the bikes such as the fork seals. Not one of them has been moved from the spot it was placed in, since that time (2004). I will list the bikes that had full services performed on them before putting them away “Dry” by the owner, whom has been a State Champion in motorcycle competition. Said owner has 18 motorcycles now. The owner of these 9 bikes knows the motorcycle world’s top industry leaders. These contacts have helped me be able to even buy a couple of the bikes. Each bike was the best available at the time of its purchase. All have been owned since long before 2004. A couple since 1991.
