Has Original Tag On The Back Of The Frame From The Paul Metcalf Gallery In Los Angeles, Ca. Condition: Painting Has Craquelure Throughout The Canvas, Some Spots And Wear Present (view Photos) Regarded As The Primary Artist Of The Final Decades Of Western Exploration, Thomas Moran Made Eight Trips West Between 1871 And 1892 And Created A Body Of Oil And Watercolor Sketches That Remain A Primary Record Of That Period. In Fact, His Painting Was So Associated With The West That He Was Referred To As T. Yellowstone Moran. In 1873, He Began Signing His Name With A Monogram That Incorporated "y" Into His Initials, And From 1911, He Added A Thumbprint. // The History Of This Painting Is As Follows. The Painting Was Purchased By Hugh Meinhardt In 1959 From The Paul Metcalf Art Gallery Established In 1936. Paul Metcalf Was Said To Be The Art Gallery To The Stars And Purportedly Had Several High Profile Famous Celebrities That Trusted Him As Their Source For Obtaining Original Beautiful Works Of Art. This Painting Has The Original Paul Metcalf Gallery Tag Still Attached. Upon Mr. Meinhardt Purchasing This Painting From The Paul Metcalf Gallery In 1959 It Was Shipped To Quincy Illinois And Installed Into Mr. Meinhardt’s Personal Collection. Mr. Meinhardt Passed Away In 1966 At Which Time It Was Inherited By His Daughter Carlene Meinhardt Geisler That Placed The Painting Into Her Personal Collection. Upon Carlene Meinhardt Geisler’s Passing In 2004 The Painting Was Then Inherited By Carlene’s Daughter Sharon Giesler Cushman The Current Owner. In 2004 The Painting Was Shipped To Mesa Arizona At Which Time An Appraisal Was Done By Kodner Gallery In St. Louis, Missouri And Is Included With This Painting. Also Included With This Painting Is The Book Thomas Moran Artist Of The Mountains With A Personal Note In It To The Meinhardt Family Complimenting Hugh Meinhardt For Acquiring The Thomas Moran Painting Dated 1976.
